Lead Platform Engineer- Developer Experience - 3681158

A global financial technology organization is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer focused on Developer Experience. This engineer will build and operate the platforms, tooling, and automation used by software engineers throughout the development lifecycle.

The role combines software engineering, developer infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and emerging AI-assisted development capabilities. You will own critical developer-facing systems and help reduce friction across development, testing, deployment, and production operations.

What You`ll Be Doing

• Design and build systems that incorporate GenAI into software development and operations, including coding agents, AI-assisted code review, testing, deployment, and operational diagnostics.
• Evaluate, integrate, and operate AI-based developer tools and build supporting infrastructure for their safe and effective use.
• Engineer and maintain source control, CI/CD infrastructure, developer tooling, processes, and integrations.
• Build capabilities for feature flagging, progressive delivery, automated deployment and rollback.
• Develop self-contained, on-demand testing environments that allow engineers to safely develop and validate changes.
• Improve observability capabilities across metrics, logging, tracing, and events.
• Build software and automation that improves developer productivity and reduces friction throughout the SDLC.
• Define and track developer productivity and satisfaction metrics to help prioritize engineering investments.
• Establish engineering best practices through hands-on development, architecture, code reviews, and technical leadership.
• Own critical infrastructure services while contributing directly as a senior individual contributor.

Required

• 5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, developer infrastructure, developer tooling, SDLC platforms, or observability.
• Strong software engineering skills with advanced proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Experience owning and operating critical developer-facing infrastructure or platforms.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD infrastructure, source control platforms, observability tooling, developer automation, or similar systems.
• Demonstrated ability to improve developer productivity through engineering and automation.
• Experience designing and operating reliable production systems.
• Ability to balance delivery speed, technical quality, operational risk, and business requirements.
• Strong systems thinking, technical problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience with AI/LLM-based developer tooling, including coding agents or AI-assisted code review.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation or related AI infrastructure.
• Experience operating or integrating self-hosted models.
• Experience building developer platforms or internal engineering products at scale.

Base Salary: to $260,000 +/-, based on experience

Variable Compensation: Year-end bonus, guaranteed for the first year of employment.

Hybrid schedule in NYC preferred, potential for Remote if not commutable to office
