Our client, a global financial technology company, is seeking a Documentation Lead to own the strategy, quality, and evolution of a large-scale developer documentation ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who views documentation as a product rather than a deliverable. You will partner closely with Engineering and Product to improve how developers create, maintain, discover, and consume technical documentation. More than a technical writing leader, you will act as a documentation evangelist, driving best practices, influencing engineering culture, and helping teams recognize that exceptional documentation is critical to shipping exceptional software.
What You`ll Own
- Define the vision, roadmap, and standards for a modern developer documentation platform.
- Partner with engineers, architects, and product managers to improve documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Champion documentation quality across thousands of pages of technical content.
- Drive adoption of modern documentation tooling and workflows.
- Use analytics, developer feedback, and AI-powered insights to improve discoverability, usability, and engagement.
- Treat documentation as a measurable product, tracking adoption and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications
- Experience leading developer documentation or technical writing within a company that builds and ships commercial software.
- Strong background supporting engineering organizations and developer-facing products. • Expertise with API, SDK, platform, or developer documentation.
- Experience with platforms such as Mintlify, JetBrains Writerside, ReadMe.io, GitBook, or comparable documentation ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of AI-driven documentation consumption, semantic search, LLM-assisted documentation experiences, and optimizing documentation for AI-powered discovery.
- Ability to influence engineering teams and establish documentation standards without relying on formal authority.
- Experience using documentation analytics to guide decisions and measure success. • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within developer tools, enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, fintech, distributed systems, etc., as well as experience supporting large documentation libraries and Developer Experience (DevEx) organizations.
