2Bridge Partners has been engaged in the search for a Direct Hire, Full Time, Head of Platform Engineering. In this capacity, you will lead the team responsible for the technical operations of their Trading Systems and Environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in production engineering within a financial firm and expertise leading the modernization of Cloud, DevOps, and SRE processes.

Our client is HQ`d in the UK and is open to hybrid if within the London Metro area or remote with Trave for someone within the UK.

Responsibilities:

• Implement modern monitoring and alerting systems in a 24/7 trading environment built predominately on Linux with some Windows servers
• Track system performance to identify bottlenecks and to ensure adherence with SLAs, SLI`s and SLO`s.
• Communicate with management, providing status reports, KPIs, and updates on incidents, issues, and resolutions
• work with management to improve & customize reporting
• Top-level ownership of Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments
• Manage the team(s) responsible for deploying and promoting software between environments
• Lead the development of automated build and deployment processes to streamline SDLC. 
• Work with development & deployment teams to design failover, recovery solutions & scenarios
• Maintain a list of production service problems; manage escalation and ensure resolution
• Maintain a framework for end-of-day task scheduling, critical reporting, and data migration processes
• Own the re-architecture of legacy systems and environment into modern fault-tolerant cloud-based systems.
• Top level of technical ownership with occasional hands-on contributions.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years experience in high-availability LINUX production engineering in a financial firm
• 4 years leading, managing, and mentoring a technical team in a 24/7 environment
• Experience leading the architecture and re-engineering from an on-prem to a hybrid cloud or cloud environment - AWS preferred
• Experience implementing Configuration and DevOps best practices
• Deeply experienced with Linux and a background in scripting for automation - Python, Perl, Shell, Batch, Powershell, etc.
• Deeply knowledgeable of relational and columnar databases - Oracle, Postgres
• Well-versed in the architecture and deployment of event-based middleware systems, such as Solace Systems, LBM, RabbitMQ, etc.
• Well versed in Agile, Scrum, SRE - SLI, SLO; DevOps practices – CI, CD
• Experience with continuous integration systems - Jenkins, Puppet, etc
• Knowledge spanning OS, Virtualization, Security, App/Dev, Storage, Databases, Cloud Models, Technological Change, etc.
• A passion for quality, continuous integration testing methodologies, and change control
